Story

Monaiya has NMO, an autoimmune disease in which immune system cells and antibodies primarily attack the optic nerves and the spinal cord.  The damage to the optic nerves may result in pain and loss of vision, and the damage to the spinal cord causes weakness or paralysis in the legs or arms.  Her mother, who is her main caregiver, has lupus and spinal health issues.  This new ramp will make life much easier (and safer) for both of them.

Our Midlothian High School RAMPS Club did a fantastic job with this ramp – it was a bit of a challenge but our RAMPS Supervisor, Spencer White, and our faculty Adviser, Erich Yost worked with the students to get exactly the right configuration – good job everyone!
