The student volunteers from Maggie L. Walker Governor's School started their summer break Friday afternoon by giving their time and hard work to help out Ms. M., a 72 year old city resident who goes to dialysis treatments 3 x a week in a wheelchair. She lives with her elderly sister/caregiver and has other family members who had to try and get her down the steps for dialysis. Imagine not only dealing with the physical struggles of going through dialysis but also fighting to get in and out of your house to get to the life-saving treatments. These fantastic students completed the ramp in under two hours to give Ms. M a lifetime of freedom (and safety), as our truck says! Thank you to Nathan, Sophia, Samhith, Sanika, Sriyutha, and Karan!
Great job on refurbishing some of our much needed recycles by members of the Maggie Walker Governor's School lead by their awesome president, Sophia P.
The Maggie Walker Club has been part of RampsRVA for five years. They have produced some of the organization’s finest youth leadership. In 2023 they built ramp #588 for Ms. Mills, a full-time wheelchair user due to broken bones, arthritis, and dementia. The ramp was completed just in time for her daughters to get her to a doctor's appointment that afternoon!
